If you are an avid MTV watcher, you would have known there was a show on there at one point called the Shannara Chronicles. This series was based on a series of books by the same name by Terry Brooks. The show was on MTV for one season and then was not renewed. Spike picked it up for a second season, but it is now up in the air again as to if it will be picked up or not.
The show first intrigued me due to it being a sort of fantasy series. It is set in a post-apocalyptic type world where magic is found. I watched every episode when it was first ever on. I devoured it. I thought it was a great show that filled a hole in my TV show watching that was needing some sort of fantasy series. I also have a deep love of the very fierce and heroic female characters found throughout the Four Lands.
I recently just watched the second season on Netflix, and I have to say, I don't think it was as good as the first season. It left me a little wanting but held my attention none the less. Maybe I was still mourning the loss of one of the first season characters. Maybe I was getting over the fact that Austin Butler was still just that attractive. I don't know. We'll never know. The second season ended on a cliff hanger that definitely has me wanting a third season. It almost brought the season full circle from the ending of the first and yet had it's own twist that nobody saw coming.
The cast and characters are some that you won't find anywhere else due to their talent and how they present themselves. I really love the character arcs that are found and the way characters are just classic upon their first introduction. It's definitely peaked my interest in reading the book series and learning more about the history of the Four Lands and the races.
For right now, I personally think Netflix should just pick it up and roll with the series.
