Disclaimer: This is the second time I've read this book.
Ally Carter is at it again with writing a wonderful piece of work. This book follows the adventures of Maddie and Logan in the Alaskan wilderness. It features bedazzled hatchets, using pantyhose to fish, and even a few white lies.
Ally Carter has this way of writing books that suck you in and don't want to let you go. I loved this book the second time through due to how different my personal circumstances were from the first one to now and how much I still loved it just the same. This book shows the power one person can have if they set their mind to it. Shoot, you even feel ready to go out and tackle Russian assassins yourself with your second or third favorite knife in your hilt.
This book was a breath of fresh air that I needed to get away from reality for a bit, and Carter didn't disappoint to keep me distracted. The witty banter and alternating points of view in this stand-alone novel make you want someone to share that type of camaraderie with. Carter continues to keep you hooked in how that she lets it "go black" with what character is doing and take you to where the other is to keep the suspense going (just like in her other books -- the Gallagher Girls series and the Heist Society trilogy).
You're going to fall in love with Maddie and Logan and be rooting for them until the end -- even if one has lied to the other to protect them.
Now, let me go find my bedazzler and start bedazzling everything I own in true Maddie fashion. Because what else would the daughter of an ex-secret service agent inspire for people to do while she's also protecting the President's son?
Check out the book here.
Loved this book by Ally Carter? I suggest reading her Gallagher Girls, Heist Society, and Embassy Row novels. She also has several novellas available for Kindle and a prequel GG Book via Audible.
